Tough Question Tuesday: Have You Hindered Your Success by Being Stubborn?

Among all the great ideas we have, we all come up with a few duds along the way.

Have you ever, out of sheer stubbornness (or for some other reason you may want to elaborate on) continued on a project that just wasn't cut out for success? Or are you still plugging along with one of those duds today?

Feel free to share what made you (or is making) you finally come to the realization that it was time to give up.

Whoa! Nobody? Guess I'll bare it all and admit those embarrassing days ;)

Sadly, yes. But no longer have those projects today. To make it worse, I was stubborn on a lot of things not only one project.

Hung on for pride, hung on for refusal to see things another way. Have since been humbled. It has in part to do with you Alice and in part John Reese's influence. Am glad for learning these very tough the lessons though.

Looking back, I do regret for not snapping out of it earlier. Would've been further along than I am now. But guess it's all about being ready.

Way to be brave...Lynette. Or perhaps you and I are the only stubborn ones. Power Moms Cruise comes to mind, but I did eventually agree to give it up. However, interestingly enough, if we tried that project again today, I think it would fly a bit better.

What was that power cruise all about guys? I remember reading about that at some point but couldn't figure it out!

One of my bright ideas was to provide SEO support for local website owners... after two clients I quit... talk about stressful with a capital S!

There are many more, which I won't go into but I remember a part time catering service at the age of 18, LOL.

I've wanted to leave my professional speaker client base for years. It is just too hard for a speaker to get booked for a speech and I found that frustrating and stressful. I created a compromise: I only work for the speakers I already have. New clients can speak on the side but they must have another career. Change is easier to handle when it is made slowly over time.

This is a really tough question Alice. In my effort to be focused I've slashed a lot of projects over the years but I definitely wish that I had cut them off sooner, or just not taken them up.

Like Lynette, I've hung on to some things for pride. It's hard to give something your all for so long and then admit that it's just too much work for the little fruit it gives back.

When I was running my service based company, I did this mistake not once but many times. I was too proud to let go off the problem clients. I knew they were problem clients, adding very little to my revenue but making me work too hard for them. But I was too proud and stubborn to let them go...After all I should be able to deal with any sort of client thrown at me right? Wrong..Learn't the hard way...
