Jim Edwards Ain't No Sweetie

People have been writing to me and asking me questions that seem to reveal the fact that...

Jim Edwards AIN'T no sweetie.

People noticed that some of the advice I gave in my "Internet Marketing Sweetie" teleseminar seemed to downright conflict with what Jim said in last week's "How to Mini-Site Teleseminar".

Jim said not to give out content for free.

I said give out as much content as you can for free.

Who's right? The guy who used to live in a trailer park or a sweetie? ;-)

Great thoughts on the topic Alice. I love my large content website, but am excited to branch out into mini sites soon.

Instead of asking "who's right," I'd ask who is more successful? That's the one I'd listen to.

I am going the cheap route to start

One day last week I decided to give pay-per-click a try with one of the newer providers who gave a few dollars credit on sign-up.

So I filled out a long list of keywords, and burned through 100 clicks in the space of 8 hrs. Most of them on one keyword.

I was un-prepared, no squeeze page, and none of the clicks resulted in a sale of something that was meant to convert at 4%. The product is one of the best sellers on Clickbank, and my advert was vastly different to the normal ones I had seen.

Since then I have sat-back and decided I am not going to spend a fortune on pay-per-click until I can afford to test results, and provide an auto-responder series that can converts.

By making small content sites, you can learn a lot about copy-writing, and how to talk about your subject. Once you know your subject, and have some profits to re-invest, then is the time to think about other traffic generation methods.

I am testing my squeeze pages on traffic exchanges and InstantBuzz in the meantime.

Take care

Andy
p.s. it would be great if you add Haloscan to your blog so that I can trackback from my blog :) I don't like commenting from my blog unless I can use trackback so you can see the comments.

I listened to both Jim's and your audio file, and I have this to say:

I think you can use either site depending on your purpose. Just as you said, if your purpose is to sell or get subscribers now, that's a great purpose for a mini site.

However content based sites can serve two great purposes, 1. To make money with adsense. 2. To funnel traffic to your mini sites.

So it all depends on what you want to do with the site.

Thanks for your comments, everyone. Willie, you're so right about people thinking you know more. It's true.

And hey, I look forward to meeting you in person in Miami next week. I can't wait!
