Tough Question Tuesday: Have You Ever Spammed?
When we first get started online, it can seem overwhelming and we're not quite sure what to do. Have you every knowingly or unknowingly spammed (via email, message board, etc.) to promote your business?
I have, but I'll be back with details later. For now, feel free to share your adventures in spamming! ;-)

Yes. I realized what an opt-in list was, I set up my first ezine, with a slew of business cards I had collected at events, etc. No one really complained, but now I cringe just thinking about it!
Unknowingly. Yes, I was naive and clueless.
Being Totally honest. Yes I did -- Way back in the days when I was with Honeysuckly Cove and Gabby Goodies I did spam a board once but I really was totally clueless how to network properly but after I spammed the board (I think it was WAHM.com) I learned really quickly...LOL
Great question
No not knowingly, but I made the stupid mistake on the first forum I ever went on and said something like... take a look at my website, what do you think LOL (my first post, yikes)... Like Aurelia, I learned very quickly!
Yep...I sent a fundraising email for Team in Training to my entire gmail address book (including about 5 yahoogroups). Big time spam, but I really didn't know the rules at the time. No complaints -- but yikes!
oh yeah, at the beginning, until I figured out what spam was, LOL. I'm pretty sure it's part of the general learning curve. Once "poked" is "forever learned" , right?
Yes at the beginning I didn't know enough about forums and thought that PM was the way to go. Learnt very quickly that it wasn't. I think it's all part of learning.
I am sure that I did. I had no clue what I was doing at the beginning. Now that I think back there was definitely one board that I spammed.
I will admit to spamming but years ago when I had no clue what I was doing. Won't catch me doing it now, LOL!
Oh I've definitely done it but I don't do it anymore.
You had to make me remember those days when I was just learning my way around this community huh Alice?
Of course I know I must have unknowingly and knowingly done it back then. I apologize now and would NEVER do it again. lol
When I was first new to the internet world I have to admit I did unknowningly spam a few forums. I soon learned very quickly though that this was not the way to do business online.
Look at all these spammers! I'm shocked. Ha ha!
I actually spammed a few MSN Groups. It was the first place I found to talk to other biz owners online. Thankfully, I spammed with a site I no longer own, so I'm hoping there is no record of it. LOL..I made big HTML ads and just posted them wherever I felt like.
I was a bad, bad girl...but what I really didn't get was that there are REAL people online and they make connections with each other. When I spammed I didn't realize how it would look and didn't really know it was spamming. I thought it was the only way to get people to notice. I was wrong!
Yes, I have...Unknowingly. I sent a bunch of emails. I didn't know I was spamming. I quickly learnt what I was doing was not correct and stopped.
Sandy
In the beginning, when i first started out.
The social rules in the online world are very different from the real world.
It's so simple to send an email into a yahoo mailing list...then the impact of shooting that email into 50,000 strangers email box suddenly hits when the fallout begins...
Yes I did once!
Another silly thing I did was hotlink to an image file on a message board (I liked the avatar). I had NO idea this was wrong, but got a nasty email from the website owner who saw her image links all over the net LOL!
I can't believe I did that. I had no idea back then. That's why I always give people the benefit of the doubt, sometimes it's just ignorance.
Look at you getting the comment love ;)
