An Affiliate's Dream? Directory Generator from Armand Morin

I know a few people who have made a decent amount of money, just by creating a directory of products filled with their affiliate links. They optimize the pages for search engines and then funnel the traffic to the affiliate products.

I have always thought this was hard and kind of tedious work. I love creating content and engaging in interesting discussions when I write for the web. But I have to admit, I've always been curious about using this approach to affiliate marketing.

Well, something has piqued my interest further. Armand Morin has announced his Directory Generator last night. Directory Generator allows you to create extensive website directories where you control the contents of the directory.

Directory Generator also allows you to integrate Amazon products with your affiliate link...and integrates AdSense and Websearch too. It comes with some great bonuses, including Armand's very own keyword tool. He told me about this tool in Chicago and said he would never sell it...but it seems he's now giving it away for free. ;)

Hey Alice,

I don't see how this is significantly different from things like Traffic Equalizer or Ranking Power. I read Phil Wiley's comments (both good and bad) about this product which confirms my suspicions.

Also, there are free scripts out there that will integrate Amazon search feeds into your sites.

First CBClicks, and now this... hmm... is Armand running out of original ideas? :)

It looks like Phil is liking it more as he gets into it further. You know, I am looking at this as being a Content Management System (CMS)...the only thing is it's designed to rank well on search engines.

I think it's different than Traffic Equalizer because it allows you to make a more meaningful website for your visitors. TE really creates ICK that is not of value to anyone. But Directory Generator allows you to easily create a portal in HTML.

I dunno...I'm not usually a shortcut taker, but I am interested in expanding my horizons. It also means I'm a more well-rounded person and I can share my findings with my members. I will let you know if I play around with it.

I was quite surprised to see a product like this especially from Armand. But that's not so much the point. For someone like me (okay so maybe I'm not the target market), this type of 'product' has been and still is available on places like Hotscripts a long time and guess what some of them free or cost peanuts. Like I said, the copy is not really written for people like me in mind as it doesn't give a lot of tech details. However there are plenty of ways to generate static link directories using dynamic software.

Alice, today there are more and more software that generates dynamic content yet displays it as HTML. Devs are becoming more and more savvy about this. Even if they do generate dynamic URLS its not all that difficult to make them into static URLs, I think a good dev you can probably pay him a VERY reasonable fee and get your URLS into static ones.

What I do find interesting is, more and more marketers are truly making the technology-marketing connection. Hmmm makes me think maybe I should buy rights to some of the software I know and market it heh heh.

You are absolutely correct Lynette. Sure, there are cheaper ways to do this and us non-techies could go to hotscripts.com and be totally bewildered. Armand is marketing to the non-technical person who wants to work easy-to-use programs to achieve the desired results.

It's all about convenience. Of course, we can wash our dishes by hand...but some of us prefer to use the dishwasher. ;)

You may be onto something, Lynette. Your tech knowledge is certainly your advantage!

Hey there -- CB Clicks and Directory Generator are not the same thing. As far as I know...the price for DG has always been the same.
