Awesome Work Day! Try This Outside Your Home.

Who says that you have to work IN the home when you have a work from home business?

Today, the boys were at preschool all day, so I had the entire day to get some work done...and I had plenty to do with upcoming products and other projects. But it's been so hot here the past couple days, I thought I'd take my work day on the road. I have to say, it was such a fun AND productive day.

It went something like this:

9:00 - 11:00 AM - Went to Starbucks for a Raspberry Green Tea Frappucino and used their wi-fi.

11:00 - 11:30 AM - Off to the spa. Not for anything too exciting - just an eyebrow and upper lip waxing. It hurts a bit, but it's good to get rid of the mustache and the uni-brow. ;-)

11:45 AM - 1:45 PM - Drove over to De Dutch Pannekoek House (it's a local chain of Dutch pancake restaurants and I used to work at one as a college student) for lunch and to use their free wi-fi.

2:00 - 3:oo PM - Back to the spa. This time for a pedicure. They always laugh at me when I bring in my big binder full of business idea, but I love doing some thinking and planning while I relax during the pedicure.

So, what did I get done today?

I created a free affiliate managers report, set up 2 new tips lists (including the sign up pages and autoresponder series) and made plans for 2 more. I also caught up on email, planned a monthly schedule and finalized some details on a product. I even had time to catch up on a few of my favorite forums cuz sometimes we need a little distraction?

So, what about you? Do you ever take business on the road? Where's your favorite place to work.

Sounds like an awsome day. I have thought about doing some at a local coffee shop using their WIFI but being in a small town I know too many people and would get nothing done lol. I did try to take the laptop out on the deck to catch some of this beautiful sunshine but the glare on the screen was too much. It's a tough life I tell ya lol.

I have tried twice to enjoy the WIFI at our local coffee house but it isn't free and both times I've had trouble with it remaining up and running :( That blew one of my full time WAHM dreams about checking my email while sipping a hot latte on main street. *sigh*

When I go downstate to visit family, Panera Bread is my free WIFI and yummy bagel headquarters :)

I totally LOVE wi-fi and now that the summer here in the UK is just starting to kick in, it's time to dust off the garden furniture and work in the warm sunshine again!

I have a broadband hub setup in my house and I can use my laptop anywhere within 30 yards or so of my house. Similar to what Kelly said, it's always been one of my dreams to be able to sit back on a lounger in the garden and run my Internet empire! Now I'm doing it! :)

Starbucks is good too, but they charge the equivelent of $15 an hour here to use it, and I feel like that's a bit of a rip-off when I can get it free at home!

I would love to go to Starbucks occasionally to get some work done but alas the Starbucks in my small town failed the Starbucks challenge (no Fair Trade coffee). I have been known to go to Panera on occasion.

Hi Alice,

I did that a lot when I lived in the city. The nearest Internet cafe is now about an hour from here though.

I did just treat myself to a chase lounge though. As I write this on my laptop sitting on my new chase lounge, I'm listening to all of the birds chattering, can hear an Elk calling and have lizards and chipmunks running around in front of me.

Because of the sun, I can't actually move outside (can't see the screen), but I'm sitting in the great room of our log home that has windows everywhere looking out over a valley with a creek running through it. And the sliding glass window in front of me is open with just the screen shut so I can hear all the nature sounds... and it seems like I'm outside.

Your work environment is important. Why hang out in a home office in the basement when you can treat yourself? Go treat yourself again today!

The backyard IS nice too, but I find it too close to home and all the distractions that go with it.

I've never taken work to the spa, but I love writing in coffee shops.

I also like working in coffee shops with free wifi (check www.wififreespot.com). Sometimes it helps me be more productive to leave the house!

I'm a mom to a 5 year old and newly quit my day job to work from home as an affiliate. It's an adventure. I need to work on time management. If I don't stop no one will ever see me before noon.

I think affiliate marketing is a great thing for work from home moms. Check out this ebook that helped me get started: http://www.quityourdayjob.com/ebook.php
It's my affiliate bible.

WOW, Janet, thanx for the TIP about that ebook! I'm new here but I took a look at it and I'm considering purchasing it to help with my internet affiliate business plans.
Also took a quick look at your "newspapergrl.wordpress.com" site and saw among the articles you wrote one about adult(Porn & Affiliate) sites, and what we can learn, in a sort of symbiotic way, about exit strategies, which in turn could build our own businesses almost passively, and afford us greater revenue, stability and exposure of our sites. Alice touched on this partially in an article above, (Friday, May 19, 2006) titled, "How to Find Profitable Keyword Lists". Great article, Janet, and it sounds like a Very Smart concept to me! Love to hear more about how to apply this to our internet mom businesses! Hope you and/or Alice can comment further on this!
